When installing flooring it is necessary to move the refrigerator to tackle the area where the unit usually sits. The best way to move a refrigerator to install Pergo is to use furniture pads. Furniture pads are available at home improvement centers. They are circular plastic pads that go between the floor and the feet or wheels of the unit. Things You will Need
Coolers
Wrench
Phillips-head screwdriver
4 furniture pads
Open the refrigerator and freezer doors, and remove the contents from the unit. Place the contents in several coolers if the refrigerator is to be out of place for more than two hours. Coolers will help keep the food from spoiling until you reinstall the refrigerator.
Unplug the refrigerator power cord from the wall outlet. If you have a unit with an automatic ice maker or water dispenser, shut off the water supply behind the refrigerator. Look for a small T-handle on the water line behind the unit. Disconnect the refrigerator water line tube from the shut-off valve. Depending upon the installation, the tube might have a nut that requires a wrench to remove it or a small clamp that requires a Phillips-head screwdriver.
Tilt the top front of the refrigerator toward the back wall, lifting the front leveling feet a few inches off the floor. Slide a furniture pad under each leveling foot. Lower the refrigerator slowly.
Grab the sides of the refrigerator and pull it away from its working position. Although the refrigerator usually has wheels on the rear, it is a good idea to ask a friend to help you slide the refrigerator out from its working position.
Move the refrigerator enough that you can get behind the unit. Tilt the rear top of the unit forward until the rear wheels are off the floor a couple of inches. Slip furniture pads under each wheel, and slowly lower the unit back down. Slide the refrigerator out of its location.
